Humble Data at EuroPython’s Beginners’ Day
Saturday, 18 July 2026 — Kapelanka 56, 30-347 Kraków, Poland
Would you like to learn to code but don’t know where to start? Taking your first steps in programming can feel impossible, so we’re running a free, hands-on workshop to show absolute beginners how it’s done and to share our passion for data science along the way.
“We want our community to be more diverse: whoever you are, and whatever your background, we welcome you.” — Python Software Foundation’s Diversity Statement
We particularly invite people from groups under-represented in data to join us. You’ll learn the basics of Python and how to use tools like Jupyter notebooks to analyse data, working in small groups with a dedicated mentor to guide you through the materials and answer your questions.
How to register

FAQ
WHEN AND WHERE IS THE WORKSHOP?
Saturday, 18 July 2026, at Kapelanka 56, 30-347 Kraków, Poland, as part of EuroPython’s Beginners’ Day.
The workshop runs alongside Django Girls and the first day of EuroPython sprints. Because these run concurrently, please pick one. Do not register for both Humble Data and Django Girls.
DO I NEED A EUROPYTHON CONFERENCE TICKET?
No. You don’t need a ticket for the main EuroPython conference. Successful applicants for Humble Data who do not have a EuroPython ticket will be sent a voucher for a free entry to the Beginners’ Day.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
A laptop that can connect to the internet. That’s it! Mentors will help you get set up on the day.
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?
Nothing! The workshop is designed for people with zero programming experience. If you already have some experience but are new to Python or to data science, you’re welcome as well – the materials are self-paced, so you can move at the speed that suits you.
HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?
The workshop is run by volunteer data scientists and software engineers who care about open source. Every day we benefit from the work of others when we use free open tools, and this is our way of giving back.
Why Humble Data?
Entering tech can feel daunting when everyone around you seems to already know what they’re doing. We want to lower that threshold, share what we’ve learned, and show that working with data well, for everyone, by everyone, is something anyone can be part of. That’s why we stay humble around data.
